The Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council in Edo State, Hon. Muhizu Zibiri Marvellous, has once again demonstrated his commitment to improving the living standards of the people in the local government area. This time, he has performed a ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony for the remodeling of three markets in the area – Uchi, Ughele, and Jattu markets.

The remodeling of these markets is a significant development that will positively impact the economic activities in the local government area.

In his welcome address, Hon. Marvelous described the flag off ceremony as a feat that is novel in the history of the local government, adding that the remodeling of the markets was the first phase in the area pointing out that plans are on to remodel other markets to bring dividends of democracy to the people in the area.

He added that upon his assumption of office as chairman in October 2023, his administration immediately hit the ground running by identifying teething challenges confronting the people of the area including but not limited to the state of the markets in the various communities with a view to ensuring that they are given facelift for the benefit of his people.

He pointed out that through the strategic and people centered initiatives of his administration, the council, in collaboration with one of the renowned developers, Aliade Engineering & Construction Company Limited, entered into public private partnership with a view to facilitating a timely execution of the remodeling of Ughele, Uchi and Jattu markets.

The chairman who assured that same gesture will be extended to other communities before the expiration of his tenure in 2026, pointed out that his administration has taken a critical look at the abandoned projects in the local government area and would take appropriate and timely intervention to ensure that all such projects among those commenced last year are also timely completed including the markets projects.

He enumerated some projects completed by his administration which include the abandoned Uchi Primary School and Alashio Primary Health care Centre, etc.

The council chairman therefore appealed for support of the traditional rulers, critical stakeholders, youths, market men and women to support Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to bring more development to the area and to the entire state.

He admonished the benefitting communities to take ownership of the projects by ensuring that standards are not compromised and any negative observation be reported to his office for immediate action.

While using the occasion to commend the youth in the council area for adhering to wise counsel against the destruction of property during the #EndBadGovernance nationwide protest, the LGA chairman appealed to the people in the locality to eschew acts that will be inimical to the smooth execution of infrastructural projects and also leverage on the financial opportunities the remodeling of the market will provide for the benefit of mankind.

In his speech, a representative of the Otaru of Auchi, thanked the council boss for his exemplary leadership by ensuring the maintenance of law and order in his domain and the entire local government area.

He attributed the success of the chairman to his consultations in the decision making process and expressed the gratitude of the community for the pilot scheme of the remodeling markets in Auchi metropolis including Jattu markets, but as Oliver twist he appealed for more projects to the area and promised their continued support to the administration of the council as well as the state.

In his response, the managing Director  Aliade Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd Engr. Adah Ochoechi  FNIWE, MNSE, CPM asserted that experience garnered from the company’s  existing and fledging partnership relationship with Niger State Development Company in construction of residential buildings in Kaduna State; Ondo State Development & Property Corporation in the management of Sunshine Estate in FCT Abuja and being a listed developer with the Federal Mortgage Bank Nigeria for provision of Cooperative housing to staff of the Auchi Polytechnics shall be put to effective use in the development of the market project in Auchi. 

Engr. Adah Ochoechi further solicits for the unfettered cooperation of the management and staff of the Etsako West LGA particularly the brilliant Executive Chairman reeling vigour and energy to bring civic development to his community and environs.
