Edo Decides: AA Candidate, Iseghohi-Okojie Steps Down For Okpebholo

The governorship candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in the September 21 gubernatorial election, Mr. Tom Iseghohi-Okojie today collapsed structure for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Briefing newsmen in Benin City, Edo State capital, Iseghohi-Okojie said his political alliance with APC is not just for winning strategy but for the future of Edo State.

According to him, “Over the course of this campaign, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges and aspirations of our people. I have listened to your frustrations and your hopes for a brighter future, and it is clear that Edo deserves better than the unfulfilled promises and stagnation we have seen over the past eight years.

“Today, I am making a pivotal decision that I believe is in the best interest of our state. I have chosen to step down from the gubernatorial race and collaborate with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its gubernatorial candidate, His Excellency Monday Okpebholo.

“Senator Okpebholo embodies this kind of leadership. He may not dazzle crowds with flashy speeches, but he is strategic, thoughtful, and deeply connected to his people. Behind the scenes, he has proven to me that he is a leader who listens, gathers the right people, and makes tough decisions for the good of Edo State. He is not driven by ego or power, but by a sincere desire to improve the lives of Edo people.”

While promising APC over 65 thousand votes during the election, the former AA governorship candidate said the quality leadership of the Acting Chairman of APC, Emperor Jarret Tenebe whose number one priority is how to make the lives of Edo people better, hence decision to collapsed structure for the APC and its governorship candidate.

He said Monday Okpebholo is to unite with a capable political leader and party that has the sincere intention to develop Edo State.

He said that aligning with the APC and her governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, is the best path to take.

While receiving the AA governorship candidate and his supporters, Edo State Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarrett Tenebe, said the alliance is to form a government of unity.

While noting that anybody that does not have the empathy cannot develop anywhere, Tenebe said Edo people need someone like Okpebholo that can feel the pain of the people.

“We are happy that Isegholi-Okojie is with us, that he can work with APC candidate to develop Edo State,” he said.

Other top APC chieftain and AA chieftain present at the ceremony include Blessing Agbomhere, APC organising Secretary,  South-South, Deaconess Mabel Onaiwu, AA Governorship candidate, among others.
