Edo University Matriculates 1,528 Students for 2024/2025 Academic Session

The Edo State University Iyamoh in Edo North Senatorial District has matriculated not more than 1,528 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Dawood Egbefo stated this at the 10th matriculation ceremony, held at Aliko Dangote Auditorium Iyamoh.
Prof. Egbefo stated that the new students were admitted through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Direct Entry and Transfer from other institutions.
According to him, “Today we celebrate the matriculation of 1,528 students through UTME, Direct Entry and Transfer) who have met the criteria for admission and successfully completed the 2024/2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

“As you join the institution as the 10th batch of matriculating students, I encourage you to uphold the University’s regulations and contribute positively to the Edo University host community.”
Going further, Prof. Egbefo urged newly admitted students to approach their academic journey with unwavering dedication and take full advantage of the cutting-edge technological resources and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities available in the institution.
While congratulating the new students, the Acting VC said that the institution had zero tolerance for social vices and advised them to shun all forms of vices that could be inimical to the progress of their academic pursuit.
“Here, we place a high premium on discipline and adherence to the academic calendar noted that the university run uninterrupted season,” he said.

The Acting VC, however pledged the management commitment in partnership with the Edo State Government to continue to provide world-class teaching and research facilities in the institution.
While delivering the matriculation lecture titled: “”Building a Legacy of Excellence: Embracing Opportunities for Academic Growth”, the guest lecturer, Prof. Omare Celia Otote, a professor in the Faculty of Education. Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, advised the newly admitted students to be disciplined and resilient in their study to achieve their academic goals.

Prof Otote further advised the students to set out goals for themselves throughout their academic journey in order to achieve excellence.
According to her, “Excellence is about continuous growth, meaningful contributions, and inspiring others saying excellence is a journey and not a destination urging them to be focus, ask questions and be self-discipline.
She said as they find themselves in the university community, they should reflect on what kind of legacy they want to build and start taking action today.
