The Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State chapter, Jarrett Tenebe today said that President Bola Tinubu who has repositioned the APC, same leadership style has been emulated by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo who he called ‘new sheriff in town’ with his unprecedented developmental strides recorded under one year in office.

Tenebe who stated this while receiving Hon. Kaycee Osamwonyi, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member representing Uhunmwonde Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly to APC family noting that this has caused opposition political parties to face into political oblivion.

He expressed his sincere appreciation that some members of the PDP have begun to reflect on the need to collaborate with Governor Okpebholo in delivering Edo State of our dreams through the Renewed Hope agenda.

According to him, “The decision by Hon. Kaycee Osamwonyi to decamp from the PDP to APC was informed by the irreconcilable crisis and internal quagmire that have plagued his former party-conditions which have made the realization of their political goals impossible.

“In line with the provisions of Section 68 Subsection 1 (g) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), which states:  “Being a person whose election to the House was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected; Provided that his membership of the latter political party is as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored.”

Going further, the APC State Acting Chairman said, “Today, we are pleased to receive into our fold a respected and courageous member of the Edo State House of Assembly Hon. Kaycee Osamwonyi who has activated this constitutional provision to join the APC. His decision reflects his commitment to contributing meaningfully to the betterment of Edo State.

“As we welcome him into our great party, let us remind ourselves of the need to promote unity, collaboration, and unwavering support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President an agenda which we are determined to nurture here in Edo.

“I want to reaffirm that the party remains committed to supporting Governor Monday Okpebholo in the full implementation of his five-point agenda and campaign promises.

“As our Governor has always said, the doors of the APC are wide open to all well-meaning Edo sons and daughters who wish to key into this transformative movement.”

Jerrett Tenebe alongside Kogi State Chairman of APC, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, members of the State Exco thereafter received Hon. Kaycee Osamwonyi to APC family with the handed over the party’s symbol to him.

In his response, Hon. Kaycee Osamwonyi who recalled how he started his political career in APC said, “My decision to join the party today is as a result of the division in my former party PDP from the national level to the state level.

“And most importantly during my campaign, I made a strong promise to the good people of my constituency that the interest of my people will come first before my interest. And my coming here today is the decision of the majority of the good people of my constituency.

“We are in democracy and democracy is about majority. I’m here today as a result of the decision of the majority of critical stakeholders and the people of Uhumwonde Constituency.”
