Uyi Oloton Daughter’s Suicide: Court Adjourns Receives Substituted Charges Against Accused, Hearing to July 10

Justice B. O. Quadri of the Federal High Court, sitting in Benin City, Edo State has received a substituted charge against one Ms. Jessica Oghomwen Iguodala in a case of aiding the suicide of Mrs. Lilian Omokhuale, daughter of Omoruyi Oloton, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uyi Technical Limited.

The prosecution team led by Policarp Odion also submitted a letter from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) requesting that the charges brought against three other persons be dropped.

Justice Quadri subsequently discharged three of the four accused persons, including Chukwudi Akpotowho, Blessing Jatto and Vincent Uhunmwangho standing trial in the case, leaving the trio of Ms Oghomwen, Akpes Omorodion and Esther Eguomon Oisamoje as the only accused persons on the amended charge sheet.

At the resumed hearing on Thursday, May 22, 2025 the case marked FHC/B/5C/2024, the prosecution counsel P. O. Odion corroborated the submission of the counsel to the second defendant, S. O. Oni on the Inspector General of Police’s directive.

Odion therefore substituted the charge sheet dated July 24, 2024 which had the names of six accused persons with another charge sheet dated May 22, 2025.

Prior to Thursday’s court sitting, there was an amended charge which removed two of the accused persons.

The case has been adjourned to July 10, 2025 for hearing.
