The AIGUOBASINMWIN MOVEMENT WORLD-WIDE, a prominent defender of the Benin Nation cum Edo on Tuesday reemphasized that the Edo South Senatorial ticket is not for sale and urged all well-meaning Edo sons and daughters to join in rejecting any imposition of candidate from a political godfathers.
In a press statement signed by Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture and Mr. Ewere Uhunoma Lucky, President and Assistant Secretary respectively of the Movement highlighted that numerous Benin Sons and Daughters with impressive credentials in administration and politics, and a deep respect for our traditional institutions, are capable of representing Edo South Senatorial District at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
According to the Movement’s statement:
“EDO SOUTH SENATORIAL TICKET IS NOT FOR PUPPETS OF POLITICAL GODFATHERS
“As the Benin adage goes, an oncoming stone doesn’t necessarily blind the eyes. The significance of the Edo South Senatorial District to the people of Benin cannot be overstated. Given the escalating political tensions in Rivers State, orchestrated by Nyesom Wike to disrupt the good intentions of the Rivers State Governor, if Ogbeide Ihama is nominated by Nyesom Wike and subsequently receives the endorsement of the Edo State Governor, it is reasonable to assume that Nyesom Wike would use Ogbeide Ihama to advance his interests as Senator Representing Edo South, potentially at the expense of the Edo people’s interests.
“This concern is rooted in Ogbeide Ihama’s political history with the Benin people, none of personal animosity.
“Having big aspirations is good, and it is natural for reasonable individuals to dream big. The AIGUOBASINMWIN MOVEMENT WORLD-WIDE, a prominent defender of the Benin Nation cum Edo, would like to stress that progress is critical. From our perspective, Edo’s progress requires the elimination of all unprofessional and unethical conduct currently plaguing offices occupied by individuals who exhibit ‘EGIARU syndrome’ when approached by Benin Sons and Daughters for help, leader of self-aggrandizement than the well-being of the Benin Kingdom.
“We would like to highlight that numerous Benin Sons and Daughters with impressive credentials in administration and politics, and a deep respect for our traditional institutions, are capable of representing Edo South in the Senatorial seat.
“Our stance therefore, is that, a candidate should not be nominated or recommended by an individual with questionable motives like Nyesom Wike, whose roots are far removed from the Benin Nation. Thus, Ogbeide Ihama’s leadership style is dubious at best. Given his track record, it is unlikely he will change because, a snake does not change it venom.
“Therefore, we urge all well-meaning Edo Sons and Daughters to join us in rejecting his candidacy.”
