…“I Regret It Deeply” — Atiku
By The9jaTREND
A shocking confession has stirred fresh debate across Nigeria as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar openly admitted he made a serious mistake years ago regarding Nigeria’s power-sharing system.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Atiku revealed that he once opposed the idea of rotational presidency.
According to him, this decision still weighs heavily on his mind today.
Atiku explained that during the constitutional conference under Sani Abacha, Alex Ekwueme had proposed zoning power among regions. But Atiku’s group blocked it.
Years later, at Ekwueme’s funeral, he admitted his regret.
He now believes that decision denied Nigeria a fair balance of power.
According to him, rotational presidency could have united the country better and reduced political tension.
This confession is already raising serious questions ahead of future elections in Nigeria.
