A group known as Aiguobasinmwin Movement Worldwide, a socio-cultural defenders of the rich culture, traditions, customs and heritage of the Edo Nation on Monday stated that the University of Benin (Uniben) under the leadership the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edoba Bright Omoregie, SAN, Benin did not and will not surrender the campus to cult activity.
This was stated in a press statement by the President, General Secretary, and Diaspora Coordinator of the Movement, Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture, Mr. Osayuki-Osa Benson and Mr. Monday Ohuimumwen JP respectively made available to newsmen in Benin City, Edo State Capital.
The Movement who said that the claim that Uniben has been surrendered to cultists is inaccurate noting that before the ungodly incident took place yesterday at the main gate, the management of the University of Benin had already put machinery in place to overhaul the university’s security architecture.
While the Movement condemn the barbaric killing at the front of UNIBEN main gate, they said exact cause is not yet fully ascertained.
According to the Movement, the position of the University of Benin management is clear: UNIBEN will not be safe for anyone intent on causing harm, given the interventions now in the pipeline for implementation.
“Let it be noted: ‘If you don’t mean well for UNIBEN, the environment won’t accommodate you going forward.’” The Movement said.
