An FCT High Court sitting in Abuja has delivered judgment in favour of Senator Yisa Braimoh in a defamation and slander suit instituted against the factional Edo State Publicity Secretary (SPS) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Omobunde Bob-Manuel, aka “Jesus Army,” and Mr. Osilama Okuofu, former Edo State Commissioner for Finance.

Senator Braimoh filed Suit No. FCT/HC/FT/CV/1381/2024, demanding N5 billion in damages for defamatory statements published against him and family members.

Delivering judgment, Hon. Justice J. O. Adeyemi Ajayi granted N100 million in damages to the claimant. The court also issued an injunction restraining the defendants from further publication of defamatory contents.

Other orders include a public retraction and apology on the platforms where the statements were published, as well as in two national dailies.

The court further awarded N2 million as a cost of action, with 8% interest on the judgment sum from the date of judgment until full payment.

Heaving a sigh of relief after the judgement, Senator Yisa Braimoh retorted that elements like “Jesus Army ” and Osilama Okuofu needed to be taught a bitter lesson and that he was fulfilled with the well considered judgement.
