A group known as Aiguobasinmwin Movement Worldwide, a Socio-Cultural Defenders of the Rich Culture, Traditions Customs and Heritage of the Edo Nation on Monday commended the University of Benin Management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Edoba Bright Omoregie, SAN, and the Board of Trustees of the UNIBEN Trust Development Fund, chaired by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for initiating the N100 Billion Trust Development Fund.
This was stated in a press statement signed by the Movement’s President, General Secretary and Diaspora Coordinator, Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture, Mr. Osayuki-Osa and Mr. Monday Ohuimumwen JP respectively and made available to journalists in Benin City, the state capital.
The Movement noted that the official launch is scheduled for July 4, 2026, at the Main Auditorium, University of Benin is bold initiative aimed at sustaining the legacy, infrastructure, and future of the ivory tower.
According to the group, “We respectfully call on all University of Benin alumni, especially those holding lofty positions and blessed with abundant resources, to seize this historic opportunity to support this first-of-its-kind innovation. The growth and development of our alma mater is a collective responsibility that requires the commitment of well-meaning Nigerians and successful alumni home and abroad.”
The Movement emphasised that they remains committed to the advancement of education and the preservation of the University of Benin’s pride of place among Nigeria’s foremost institutions.
