The award recognises his outstanding contributions to keeping Edo State clean, green, and sustainable.

The Edo Legacy Group has also recognised him as one of the 100 “most notable quintessential icons” in Nigeria, further underscoring his significant impact on environmental stewardship and community welfare.

The formal presentation ceremony is set to take place in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on June 24, 2026, marking a momentous occasion to celebrate his achievements.

Amb. Enehita-Inegbenehi was among the pioneering officials appointed by Governor Monday Okpebholo when he assumed office, tasked with the critical responsibility of overseeing proper waste disposal and management in the state.

Upon his resumption, he confronted the formidable challenge of clearing an overwhelming amount of waste that cluttered every conceivable space in Edo, all while contending with a demoralised workforce and ageing waste disposal vehicles.

Through his visionary leadership, he steered the agency towards innovative practices and the efficient use of limited resources, creating a framework for sustainable waste management that has significantly transformed the landscape of the state.

The positive impact of his leadership is palpable, as reflected in the popular sentiment expressed through the slogan “Edo is Shining,” which resonates with the local populace.

With many streets and roads in Edo now free from waste, the state is on a promising path to reclaiming its reputation as a clean and orderly society, even as challenges remain that require ongoing dedication and effort.

The distinguished awardee, Ambassador Enehita-Inegbenehi, possesses an impressive academic background with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management, as well as a Master’s degree in Strategic Leadership and Governance from Marshall University, which is affiliated with the University of Cape Coast, South Africa

In addition to his formal education, he has been honoured with an honorary doctorate in Peace, Education and Environmental Safety, a recognition bestowed by the United Nations in acknowledgement of his significant global contributions to the fields of peace-building, educational advancement, and environmental stewardship.

Amb. Enehita-Inegbenehi’s steadfast dedication to humanitarian service and his vigorous advocacy for sustainable development have earned him the prestigious title of “Ambassador” from the Niger Delta Peace and Development Initiative, reflecting his commitment to fostering peace and progress within communities.
