CPC Warns Against Use of Harmful Chemicals to Ripen Fruits In Edo

The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee (CPC) has warned public against the use of harmful chemicals to preserve or artificially ripen fruits and crops, saying the practice poses serious danger to health.

In a statement issued by the committee over the weekend urged residents to buy unripe fruits and allow them to ripen naturally at home.

The committee also encouraged households to cultivate fruits and leafy vegetables through home gardening as a way of improving food safety.

It further advised members of the public to report anyone suspected of using harmful chemicals to preserve or ripen fruits and crops.

According to the committee, part of its commitment to protecting the health and well-being of Edo residents, in line with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda.
