….Calls on security agencies to investigate thoroughly

The counsel to Hon. Etinosa Ighodaro, a Community leader from Iyowa, Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nosakhare Jassi Festus-Ajayi Esq. has denied the rumour linking his client to the murder of Mr. Rueben Omoiyekemwen Owie.
The public statement signed by Ajayi Esq from the Law Firm of Olayiwola Afolabi (SAN) reads: “We are solicitors to Hon. Etinosa Ighodaro. It has come to our attention that there’s a rumour spreading around town concerning the Involvement of our client in the murder of one Rueben Omoiyekemwen Owie. By this disclaimer, we write on behalf of our client or any member of his family was involved in the murder of the late Rueben Omoiyekemwen Owie.
”For the avoidance of doubt, our client did not commit, procure, aid, abet, authorise, facilitate or otherwise participate in the killing of late Owie, nor did he have any involvement in any plan or act intended to cause his death.
“Our client equally rejects any allegation or suggestion that any member of his family acted on his behalf or with his knowledge or consent in connection with his death.
”Our client is a law abiding citizen and have always maintained that disputes, including political disagreements must be addressed through lawful and legitimate means, as our client has never taken and would never take law into his own hands.”
”We are willing to cooperate fully with any lawful investigation and to provide any information properly required from our client by the competent authorities,” the Counsel posited.
Festus-Ajayi Esq further appealed to members of the public, media practitioners, bloggers and social-media users to exercise due caution and responsibility in publishing or re-publishing allegations of this nature, particularly where such allegations have not been established by a competent authority or Court of Law.
”For the avoidance of any possible ambiguity, our position is unequivocal. We deny any involvement on the part of our client, in the death of the late Reuben Omoiyekemwen Owie, and we state that our client did not participate in the said murder, nor has he directed, encouraged, assisted or authorised any person to cause him harm,” she added
