George Ilenikhena, newly invited Super Eagles striker had denied reports that he previously rejected an invitation from Nigeria in favour of representing France.
The 20-year-old forward, who was born in Nigeria and raised in France, received his first senior national-team call-up last week.

“At no point in time in George’s career which started at 16 has he been invited by Nigeria until now. You can quote me on this because we really want to put that lie to bed,” the representative said.
He explained that contact with Ilenikhena began early this year, when the striker was injured and subsequently missed the first six months at Al-Ittihad after moving from Monaco.
The representative said Coach Eric Chelle contacted Ilenikhena before the new season, adding that he immediately accepted the opportunity.
