EDHA Passes Bill For The Establishment Of Igbinedion College Of Health Tech

A bill for a Law to establish Igbinedion College of Health Technology and other matters related thereto has been passed by the Edo State House of Assembly, at the resumed plenary of the assembly.

The Bill passed its second and third readings after the majority leader, Hon. Henry Okhuarobo, member representing Ikpoba Okha constituency applied for a consideration of Bill following presentation of report to the House by the Standing Committee on health.

After clause by clause deliberation of parts of the Bill at the committee of the whole, all members gave their unanimous consent for the enactment of the Bill.

The speaker, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun thereafter requested the House Clerk, Alhaji Yahaya Audu-Omogbai to forward clean copies of the resolution to relevant authority for assent. The new Law is to be cited as Igbinedion College of Health Technology Law 2022.

Similarly, the house standing committe on Public Accounts presented an interim report of progress on the audit report by the Auditor General of the state.

The committe chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje, member representing Akoko Edo I constituency, who made the presentation said the interim report was to keep the house abreast with the development arising from the audited accounts of ministries, departments and agencies under Edo State government, adding that the committee has taken time to compile reports of audited accounts as well as highlighted some queries scrutinizing certain financial activities in the said report.

He assured that the committee was doing the needful to get in contact with the various affected ministries, departments and agencies. Summing up deliberations, the Hon. Speaker commended the team’s effort and urged them to as soon as possible give the house a detailed report for the consideration.

To end plenary , Rt. Hon. Francis Okiye of Esan North East I constituency moved the motion for adjournment, seconded by Hon. Yekini Idaiye from Akoko Edo I Constituency.

Consequently, plenary was adjourned to Monday 14th of February, 2022.
