A Notorious Armed Robber Meets Waterloo In Benin

In its relentless efforts to curtail the increasing rate of armed robbery and other vices in the state, operatives of Edo State Police Command attached to its Ugbor Divisional Headquarters has on 12th July, 2022 neutralized an armed robbery suspect.

In a press statement issued and signed by ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, Deputy Police Public Relations Officer said that there was an ongoing armed robbery operation along Abuja quarters by Benson Idahosa University, Ugbor G.R.A, Benin city, where the DPO personally led operatives to the scene with the aim to arrest the suspects.

Part of the statement reads, “Following a distress call to the Divisional Police officer in charge of Ugbor division at about 0445hrs of 12/07/2022, that there was an ongoing armed robbery operation along Abuja quarters by Benson Idahosa University, Ugbor G.R.A, Benin city, the DPO personally led operatives to the scene with the aim to arrest the suspects.

“On arrival at the scene, the suspects on sighting the police operatives, engaged them in a gun duel. However, the superior fire power from the police operatives neutralized one of the suspected armed robbers.

“Items recovered from the Suspect includes; One pump action gun and 5 live cartridges.

“Efforts is on going to arrest the fleeing gang members.

“The Commissioner of Police,Edo state Police Command,Cp Abutu Yaro,fdc has reinstated the command’s readiness and commitment in fighting crimes and criminality in the state. The CP employs the good people of Edo state not to relent in availing the command with viable and prompt information to neutralize crime before it happens.”
