The Aiguobasinmwin Edo Movement Worldwide on Friday described the motion against the proposed Toru-Ube State sponsored by the member representing Ovia Federal Constitution at the Federal.House of Representatives, Hon Omosede Igbinedion as a right step in right direction.
This is contained in a press statement signed by Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture and Mr. Osayuki-Osa Benson, President ans Secretary General resowctively and made available to journalists in Benin, Edo State capital.
The Movement disclosed that the Motion is gaining traction, emphasizing that there is no doubt that the proposal for the creation of Toru-Ube State would affect several ancestral Benin communities, including Ughoton, Siluko, Udo, Ologbo, Ekewan, and Obazuwa, which hold significant historical and traditional importance to the Edo people.
“Interestingly, the motion move by Hon. Omosede Igbiedion urges rejection of the proposal, emphasizing that our communities cannot be ceded under any circumstances. It’s a strong stance for the protection of Edo land and heritage.
“To this end, we want to commend and assure Hon. Omosede Igbiedion that we are solid behind her mission to ensuring that the imaginary Toru-Ube state doesn’t come to fruition,” the Movement added.
