Afegbua Lauds Ize-Iyamu’s Leadership at UBTH, Commissions Ultra-Modern Media Office

The Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, has showered praise on Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), for her outstanding leadership.

Afegbua emphasized the need for Nigeria to consider women for leadership roles, citing Ize-Iyamu’s success as an example.

Afegbua made these remarks during the commissioning of the UBTH Media office, a project initiated and equipped by Prof. Ize-Iyamu to enhance the hospital’s media relations.

While describing the UBTH Media office as a novel initiative, Afegbua
commended Ize-Iyamu’s commitment to strengthening communication and fostering a positive image for the institution .

The commissioner highlighted the achievements of women like the late Prof. (Mrs) Grace Alele-Williams and Prof. Ize-Iyamu, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their respective fields.

He urged Nigerians to recognize the potential of women in governance and create opportunities for them to contribute to the nation’s development saying, “We need to continuously look in the direction of women when it comes to leadership because some of us men have failed the nation putting myself also in that bracket.”

In her remarks, the Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof Muhammad Ali Pate and the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, for their leadership and efforts in improving Nigeria’s health sector, noting that President Tinubu’s dedication to healthcare inspires UBTH to enhance its service to humanity.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to improving healthcare delivery, expanding access, and strengthening institutions continues to inspire all of us at UBTH to aim higher in service to humanity.

“The strategic importance of this office cannot be over emphasized. It will ensure that UBTH speaks with one consistent and credible voice, celebrates our achievements, strengthens internal cohesion, manages public perception, and enhances our ability to respond promptly and effectively to emerging issues, thereby strengthening our service to humanity.” Ize-Iyamu said.
