The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu recently visited Rev. Matthew Okpebholo, the Founder and President of St. Matthew’s Royal Academy, to acknowledge his significant contributions to healthcare system in the society.

The visit, which took place on Friday, March 27th, aimed to strengthen the relationship between UBTH and the academy.

During the visit, Prof. Ize-Iyamu, along with UBTH management staff, praised Rev. Okpebholo for his dedication to providing high-quality nursing education through St. Matthew’s Royal Academy, located in Eidenu Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.

The CMD specifically highlighted the importance of the nursing profession and encouraged the students to commit themselves to their studies.

Addressing the nursing students, Prof. Ize-Iyamu emphasized that nursing is a noble career.

“Nursing is a noble profession, and you a e indispensable in the health sector. As nursing students, please be excellent ambassadors of this institution. Let the name of this school be written in gold,” Prof. Ize-Iyamu said.

Going further the UBTH CMF explained the critical role nurses play in patient care and the overall healthcare system.

Her words served as motivation for the students, reinforcing the value of their chosen path and the impact they can have on the lives of others.
