APC Announces Schedule For 2026 Party Primaries

The Edo State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced the official schedule for its primaries to elect candidates for the 2027 general election across the country.

The announcement was contained in a statement personally signed by the Party’s State Chairman, Emperor Jarret Tenebe and circulated amongst journalists in Benin.

This is coming hours to the D-day: Saturday, 16th May, 2027 when the primaries begin.

The statement read:

“We hereby inform all party faithful that the primary elections, as scheduled by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will commence as follows:

  • House of Representatives Primary Election – Saturday, 16th May 2026
  • Senate Primary Election – Monday, 18th May 2026
  • House of Assembly Primary Election – Wednesday, 20th May 2026
  • Presidential Primary Election – Saturday, 23rd May 2026

The party leadership also wishes to announce that all sensitive materials from the party headquarters have arrived, and officials designated to conduct the primaries are already on ground.

They will proceed to their respective centres where the primaries are scheduled to take place.

Party members, and supporters are therefore advised to remain peaceful, orderly, and law-abiding throughout the exercise.

The party leadership assures all stakeholders that the primaries will be conducted in a free, fair, credible, and transparent manner.

We further urge all aspirants and their supporters to embrace issue-based engagement and uphold the values of unity, mutual respect, and internal democracy, as the strength of the party remains our collective responsibility.

Party primaries are not won by threats, blackmail or entitlement. They are won by relationships, respect and the ability to genuinely appeal to party leaders and members.”
