Edo Central Senatorial Candidate on the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 National Assembly, Hon. John Yakubu has called opposition parties to remain focused on a common objective of unseating the incumbent government, citing the country’s harsh economic conditions and policies as major concerns.

Politics Today is a news and current affairs programme broadcast simultaneously on ITV and Radio every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
According to the former Esan North-East Local Government Council Chairman and former Edo State Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), “The opposition parties must form a cohesive political coalition, field a unified consensus candidate, and build a national voter base.
The presidential candidates of the different political parties across this country must come together to form a formidable alliance and note that the eventual determiners; the people that will determine who rules the country in 2027 are Nigerians.
However, the opposition must translate the hardship in the county into actionable voter mobilization rather than mere rhetorical grievance.
Also, the opposition networks must extend far beyond urban centers into rural wards, utilizing well-trained, verified polling agents across INEC’s Collation and Declaration of Results process to protect their mandates.
Opposition camps must establish strong legal teams to challenge potential electoral irregularities, mandate compliance with digital transmission technologies, and hold the ruling party accountable.
