New Currency Not In Circulation Six Days To CBN Deadline

Barely few days to the expiration date of the old naira note as stated by the central Bank of Nigeria CBN, the new naira notes are hardly in circulation for use.
Some residents in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State who spoke to newsmen expressed their dissatisfaction over the non-availability of the new naira notes.
Mr. Jonathan Nikoro stated that a few days to the expiration date of the old naira note, Banks are still paying customers with the old naira notes that were asked to be deposited in the bank by CBN.
He further added that ATM machines in most banks are dispensing the old naira notes.
According to Mr. Jonathan “if the banks are still paying customers with the old naira notes, how do we get the new note before the expiration date?”
He appealed to the relevant authorities to do something about it.
Mrs. Mercy Efena stated that due to the non-availability of the new naira notes in circulation and with the expiration date of the old notes very close, some organizations do not accept cash again, payments are done online.
According to her, it was announced in some churches that from the 29th January, members should not bring old naira notes to church for offering.
She appealed to the relevant authorities to put machinery in place to make the new notes available.
