EdoFA Elections: Imposition Of UBTH CMD, Allegation Unfounded, Misleading – Omokhagbor

The online report making the rounds, alleging that the Governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki is plotting to impose his brother Prof. Darlington Obaseki as Chairman of the Edo State Football Association has been described as misleading and lies from the pit of hell deliberately designed by some persons who are bent on embarrassing the state government.
While reacting to the Truth Live News online report, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki, Mr, Sixtus Omokhagbor, said that his attention was drawn to the report on Tuesday morning and wondered why some persons who are desperate to occupy the Edo FA number one position would go to the extent of dragging the name of Mr. Governor into affairs he knows nothing about.
According to Omokhagbor, these peddlers of falsehood are said to be hiding under the guise of the forthcoming elections to drag in the state government. Some of these enemies of the state may be afraid that their candidates may lose out in the election.
He made it clear that the Governor and even the Deputy Governor, Mr. Philip Shaibu who is in charge of sports development in Edo State are not interested in who becomes the EdoFA Chairman in the March 3rd, 2023 elective congress.
“We know that the allegation is coming from the camp of a certain Chairmanship candidate and will advise them to desist from raising false alarm and go about convincing delegates to vote for him instead of engaging in such misinformation and falsehood.
“Let me state clearly that whoever emerges winner in the election will be acceptable to the state government. And we pray that the best gets it. No one is intimidating any candidate, and the governor is not aware that his brother is in the race for whatever position. If Prof. Darlington Obaseki is in the race and he is cleared by the election committee, then why would anyone shift the blame to the governor instead of sorting it out with the electoral body that cleared an aspirant who did not meet the requirements to contest, according to the complaints that the UBTH CMD did not buy form for the election.” the SSA said.
Omokhagbor warned that it is unacceptable for any of those in the Edo FA election race to mention the name of our dear governor who is too busy with state matters.
Speaking with the newsmen on the Edo FA Election matter, the Secretary Edo Football Association, Elder Emmanuel Ajibola confirmed that such allegation is baseless and misleading, saying that nobody in Edo state government has shown interest in any particular candidate for the Edo FA chairmanship position not to talk about the Governor influencing anything.
The EFA secretary insists that the UBTH CMD Prof. Darlington Obaseki did not buy form for the election and has never called or come to disturb the Edo FA secretariat with any plan to force his way into a process that has gone beyond purchase of forms.
He concluded by advising that those peddling such falsehood to desist and allow those handling the electoral process to conduct , free, fair and credible Edo FA election.
