Chief Egharevba Celebrates 30 Years Remembrance Of  His Departed Father

A Benin Palace Chief, the Toghobaghase of Benin Kingdom, Chief Osarunmwense Egharevba also known as ‘Sereba’ on Sunday, 28th May, 2023 led his family to celebrate the 30 years remembrance of his departed father, Pa. Agbonavbare Egharevba amidst funfare, in Benin City,  Edo State

Chief Osarunmwense Egharevba, the only surviving son in an interview, said it became necessary to remember and celebrate his father even after 30 years of his departure as the solid foundation he laid not for him but the entire family has blossomed to heights unimagined.

With emotion laden voice, he described the 30 years nonphysical presence of his father as a dream, asserting that he was a dedicated and loving father, caring not only to him but to as many persons who came in contact with him.

He was indeed a personal friend still sorely missed, Chief Osarunmwense said, adding he would continue to celebrate him as long as he lives

While his wife, Mrs. Helen Egharevba commenting, described her father-in -law as very caring father who loved her very much to the extent that he would always take side with her, even when wrong.

“He would be remembered always for his steadfastness and truthfulness without fear or favour and very detribalized”, she said.

The celebration was kick started with a Special Thanksgiving Service at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral, along Akpakpava Road, Benin City with a large crowd of family members, friends and associates in attendance.

The presiding priest of Holy Aruosa Cathedral, Ohen-Osa  Igbinoghodua Edebiri in his sermon titled: “Contentment” urged all to be patient and satisfied in whatever they do, and wherever they have.

While pouring praises on Chief Osarunmwense for celebrating his father, Ohen-Osa describes him as a good example of a patient and contented man who God has blessed.

His message also dwelt on the need to practice righteousness in all we do and wherever we find ourselves, as he condemned the act of ungodly practices yet expecting God’s presence in one’s life.

He noted, the leadership of the Nigeria nation so chastised for all manners of failures, ills, and ungodly acts prevalent in the society, is sometimes not responsible but the citizens, followers.

“A lot lies with the insatiable greed, selfishness and lack of fear of God by the people”, Ohen Osa stated.

Stressing the need to appreciate God for his faithfulness and blessings always, he reiterated the need to be satisfied waiting patiently for His timing.

Chief Osarunmwense (Sereba) later in a reception treated his guests to a sumptuous launch of assorted meals and drinks while a Benin cultural dance band entertained guest with their careful choreography footsteps.

The Iyase of Benin Kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe led other prominent Palace Chiefs, and other guests to the reception.
