The Edo State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) under the chairmanship of Rt. Hon. (Chief) Mrs. Elizabeth Ativie, has congratulated the Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his Deputy Governor-elect, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, on their well-deserved victory during September 21, 2024, Edo State governorship election.

In a congratulatory message signed by Comrade Airen Igbinedion, State Publicity Secretary (SPS) of the party, said the people of Edo State have spoken through their votes, and the party respects their choice.

According to him, “While the Edo people believe this victory presents a new opportunity for the incoming administration to deliver on the promises made during their campaign, the LP urges Senator Okpebholo and Hon. Idahosa to lead with integrity, vision, and a commitment to improving the lives of Edo citizens.

“As you assume your role as the Executive Governor of Edo State come November 11, 2024, we remind you that you will be the governor of all Edo people, not just an APC governor. Therefore, you must be ready to embrace all and govern with inclusivity and compassion.

“Now that the election is over, we call on all other parties’ candidate who contested the election to support Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon. Dennis Idahosa and to join hands with them in the interest of the state. It is time to set aside party differences and work together for the progress and development of Edo State. The people of Edo State need leadership that prioritizes their interests, and we trust that the Okpebholo-led government will rise to this challenge.

“While we look forward to a prosperous Edo State under the leadership of Monday Okpebholo and Dennis Idahosa, the Labour Party also commends the good people of Edo State for conducting a peaceful election. As a major opposition party in the state, the Labour Party will continue to engage in constructive criticism, offering suggestions and challenging the government to fulfill its responsibilities to the people.”
