Over 67 gay suspects arrested during a secret same-sex marriage in a remote hotel in Ekpan road in Delta State would soon be charged to court after the completion of investigation into the case, a police statement confirmed.

The statement made available to journalists also confirmed that during investigation, the suspects implicated other members who are at large as members of the outlawed group.

On August 27, 2023, police on patrol in Delta State arrested a male suspect in female clothes who upon interrogation at the police station claimed he was attending a gay wedding of his other gay members in a hotel.

The police acting on the information immediately swooped on the suspects who allegedly attended the secret gay wedding in the hotel in Ekpan road, along Old Refinery Road in Delta State where over 100 suspects were arrested and after successful screening, 67 were found to be gay, a police statement claimed.

Meanwhile the arrested gay suspects, who would soon be charged to court for gross violation of the Same-sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2014, under interrogation implicated other members of the group who are secretly indulging in the sacrilegious act but are presently at large.

The other members of the secret homosexual group already at large and wanted by the police are Osaro Iyobosa, Martins Ighodalo, Edosa Casey Igbinaduwa, Perry Sean, Mark Joe and John Atoe.

The statement urged members of the public with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing members to report at any nearby police station for a handsome reward adding that the police would comb every nooks and crannies in the country especially in the South-South region for the fleeing members.

In Nigeria, the violation of the Same-sex Marriage, unlawful assembly of group involved in the act, Prohibition Act of 2014 attracts a minimum of 7-14 years jail term upon conviction.
