It will be recalled that some yet-to-be identified cultists, who are after Paul Orobosa another rival cult member and eldest brother of the murdered Osaretin Orobosa, had earlier in 2015 trailed one Kelly Orobosa, another brother of the deceased down to his family house after a heated arguement at a night club.

Kelly Orobosa, according to information made available, narrowly escaped death as his assailants were unlucky to track him down as the action of the cultists further heightened fears amongst family members and neigbhours who daily live in constant fear of possible attacks.

However the killing of Osaretin Orobosa in March 2022 to many in Uselu community in Egor did not come as a surprise as cult killings which in recent times in the community have accounted for many unresolved killings of youths, was the main reason the eldest son of the Orobosa who is wanted by other rival groups escaped from the community and has since not returned.

A neigbhour who spoke on condition of anonymity said the recent killing of Osaretin Orobosa was shocking to many as others in the community expressed fears over the safety of others including Kelly Orobosa as the cultists were still after the eldest son of the family who is also a rival cult member.

He expressed concerns over the security of lives for members of Kelly Orobosa family as there had been highly disturbing reports of Kelly being also wanted by some cultists who trailed him down to his house in 2015 after an arguement ensued at a night party.

This, according to the neigbhour, has plunged members of the community into great fear as many people including Kelly’s family are disturbed daily when strange-looking faces are seen in the community.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Orobosa who spoke on behalf of the family of deceased expressed grave concerns over the safety of other members of her family in the house adding that on several occasions these cultists had in the past trailed her eldest son Paul Orobosa home before he eventually disappeared from the community.

She further said Kelly Orobosa had to also flee for his life as an altercation at a night party between and some cultists resulted him being marked for death hence he had to also flee from the commumity but today his younger brother is the victim of this gruesome killing.

She said tearfully, “the cultists who were on the trail of my sons since 2015 were of the impression Kelly and Paul had returned home from their hiding and came after them. But here we are, their younger brother has been murdered after they discovered that they were not in town.”

However it was gathered that the cultists vowed to return to complete their task by eliminating both brothers, Paul and Kelly Orobosa whenever they return to the community.

The corpse of the deceased Osaretin Orobosa was later taken to a local mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, a statement by the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police made available to journalists in Benin City stated that it received report of the gruesome murder of one Osaretin Orobosa in Uselu Community in Egor axis of Benin City by suspected cultists.

The statement further stated that while the Command had commenced investigation into the gruesome killing, efforts have been made to apprehend and prosecute those behind the dastardly act while urging anyone with useful information that could lead to their arrest to come forward or report at the nearest police station.

The statement concluded that the Command could not guarantee the safety of Kelly Orobosa and Paul Orobosa in the face of the current secret cult crisis in the State hence warned them to remain wherever they are seeking refuge in order to prevent unnecessary deaths.
