Chairman of the Edo State Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN) Ede Agho has described Comrade Festus Alenkhe, Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) as a man that is diligent in the journalism profession.

She made the commendation at a special thanksgiving service held at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Benin City to climax the week-long activities to mark the 2022 World Communication Day.

According to her, Alenkhe who has been of great support to CAMPAN has through his Crime Watch programme in Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) impacted positively on the society.

The Edo NUJ boss Comrade Alenkhe was thereafter presented with an award of excellence for his contributions to the growth of the church and the association.

The award was presented by the Archbishop of the Metropolitan See Benin, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr Augustine Obiora Akubeze, immediate past Chairman of the Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria (CBCN).

In his Communication Day message, Pope Francis, tasked media practitioners to uphold the sacredness of truth at all times.

The message delivered by His Grace, Most Rev. Dr Augustine Obiora Akubeze, Pope Francis urged journalists to shun Fake and misinformation, while upholding ethical principles in the course of duty.

Speaking after receiving the award, Comrade Festus Alenkhe thanked the organiser for the honour done him and promised to continue his good journalism jobs which necessitated the recognition.

He then called on parents to always monitor the activities of their children so as to stay away from crime.

“Crime is evil, crime is bad, crime will destroy your children’s future, so watch out; encourage them to always be of good behaviour so as to become good leaders of tomorrow”, he advised.
