Edo NYCN Condemns Killings Of Final Year Student

The leaders and members of Edo State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) have condemned the brutal murder of a 400-level final year student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Obukobo Desmond Oghenerukhewe in his hostel.
Recall Obukobo Desmond Oghenerukhewe also known as ‘Mayor’ was shot dead by gunmen yesterday, 3rd March, 2023 at about 9.00pm at Hall 3 Hall residence on Ugbowo Campus in the institution.
In a statement issued and signed by its Acting Chairman, Peter O. Aguebor condemn in the strongest term this vicious attack on this promising young man which has led to his untimely death, adding that attacks of this nature in schools are unacceptable and must be prevented.
According to Aguebor, “It is high time as young people and citizens of Edo State, we work towards aiding the growth of fellow young persons and not strike ourselves with the rod of hatred thereby inflicting pains and sorrows on all.
“The death of this young man is a great loss to both the university and the nation at large.
“We pray that the Lord Almighty grants his soul eternal rest.”
Going further, the Edo NYCN acting Chairman extend the council heartfelt condolences to the family of Obukobo Desmond Oghenerukhewe, his friends, colleagues, management/staff of University of Benin and all Edo youths.
“We call on the law enforcement agency to conduct a prompt, thorough and honest investigation into this case and the perpetrators brought to justice,” he concluded.
