The chairman of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe has sent a message of felicitation to the people of Edo State especially Journalists as we celebrate Easter.
In a statement, Comrade Alenkhe congratulated the people of Edo state for witnessing another Easter and pray God to take us to 2024 Easter and many Easter celebrations in the nearest future.
According to the statement, “Let me join the good people of Edo state to congratulate everyone in the state for making us to witness 2023 Easter celebration. It is my wish that the risen Lord will continue to protect His children in peace and love. As we look forward to a new Government in Nigeria on 29th May, 2023. I pray God to use the incoming leadership to better the lots of Nigerians and reduce the sufferings the people are currently passing through.
“Let us emulate the foot steps of Christ and refrain from evil that will plung us to regret ever coming to this world. The statement by Jesus Christ on the cross when He said “IT IS FINISHED” ended the calamities the world would have been experiencing and the statement finally renewed the christian Faith today.
“We must continue to thank our Lord Jesus Christ for staking His life for us at the Cross”.
The statement also congratulated Edo state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and the Oba of Benin on Easter.
He also reminded journalists to always consider God first while performing their duties and stressed the need for balance reportage and verification of news items before making it public in line with the ethics of the journalism profession.
