According to Comrade Uroupa, “The recent ugly situation that led to the kidnapped of Edo PDP Chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi should be attributed to lack of good security network in the state which the governor claimed he invested so much whereas such only exist in paper.

“Upon such huge sum of money on security network by Governor Obaseki, the ruling party chairman in the state, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi was kidnapped here in Benin City, a City Governor Obaseki claimed that anything that happened across Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, Egor and part of Ovia North-East local governments area of Edo South Senatorial District is being monitored at the Edo State Security Network Situation Room situated at John Odigie-Oyegun Public Academy, whereas reverse is the case.

“The manner in which the state PDP Chairman was kidnapped is an attestation that Edo State is seriously lacking in the area of security and government that ought to protect the lives and properties of her citizenry is not doing enough to curtail criminal activities in the state.

“This kidnap is one kidnap too many in the State which signpost’s an overt reminder and wakeup call on Governor Obaseki’s led administration in the state that all is not well, in terms of securing the State which is the primary responsibility of government.

“This further exposed Governor Obaseki led administration activities that all is not well in terms of security in the state.

Going further, the LP SPS added: “Labour Party therefore reassure the good people of Edo State that if the party is voted into power come September 21 governorship election, the issue of security in the state will be vehemently tackled and kidnapping and other social vices will be things of the past.

“Labour Party uses this medium to assure Edo people that come September, 21, 2024 with Barr. Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata as Edo State Governor, Labour Party will not play politics with security of Edo people.

“The failure of the PDP led government in the state has been exposed once again and thus appeal to Edo people not to entrust their lives into such a party anymore. The safety and wellbeing of the complete family (father, mother and child) is our concern in Labour party.

“Labour Party therefore demand from the abductors, the immediate and unconditional release of the PDP Chairman Dr. Tony Azegbemi to be united back to his family unhurt as we equally call on the security agencies in the state to swing into action and leave no stone unturned in the quest to ensuring his release.”
