BREAKING NEWS: Egor Legislative Arm Impeach House Leader

There was uneasy calm at Egor local Government Council Secretariat of Edo State today, 25th June, 2024 as seven (7) Councillors of the Legislative Arm of government out of ten (10) Councillors impeached the Leader of the House under a tensed atmosphere.

According to verifiable information available to The9jaTREND, the impeachment notice and motion was moved by Hon. (Amb) Inneh Elliot, Councillor Ward 9 who doubles as the Chief Whip of the House, while
Hon. (Dr) Kelvin Ighodaro Eguakun, Councillor representing Ward 8 of the local government area seconded the motion.

The impeachment notice and motion got the support of 7 Councillors, which is more than the required two-third majority, had little or no resistance due to the resolve of the members to change the leadership of the House based on alleged gross misconduct, maladministration and embezzlement of funds.

The House unanimously elected a new Leader of the House, in the person of Hon. (Dr) Lion Prince Edigin, Councillor representing Ward 3 of the local government area.

As at the time of filing in this report, all efforts made by The9JaTREND to get the reaction of the former House Leader of Egor legislative arm proved abortive as sources close to him was not ready to speak on the matter.
