Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi, Edo State factional Chairman of Labour Party (LP) expressed confidence that with the removal of Barr. Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the party, the party will no doubt have a new lease of life and reposition in the committee of political parties in the country.

Recall that The9JaTREND earlier reported that the Supreme Court has set aside the judgment of the court of appeal in Abuja which recognized Barr. Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

In a verdict delivered today, a five-member panel of the apex court unanimously held that the appellate court lacked the jurisdiction to have affirmed Abure as the National Chairman of the LP since the substance of the case was about the party’s leadership.

While reacting to the Supreme Court verdict through telephone interview, Comrade Ogbaloi stated that those who set the party behind are gradually being released of their duties consequently.

According to him, “Well, we are taking this judgment with the pitch of sort immediately. That is the pronouncement from the Supreme Court, and once a statement or a sentence is made at the Supreme Court, it becomes sacrosanct. Our take is that whatever is going to make our party work well even where national chairman is relieved of his duty that is what the party will take. So, there are no sentiments.”

“The expectation now is that there is a new lease of life for the party now, because those who tied the party to the guard are gradually being released of their duties, and consequently, we have a new lease of life and the party will take his due position in the committee of political parties in Nigeria.”
