The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi may have finally secured the one thing every serious contender needs before the real political battle begins: a clear path to the ballot.
For months, the biggest question around Peter Obi was not whether he had supporters. That was never in doubt. The real question was whether he would find a political platform strong enough to carry him into 2027 without endless internal crisis, legal distractions, or leadership confusion.
Now, if the path is truly open, Obi has no excuse left. The conversation must move from sympathy to structure, from online energy to polling unit discipline, from hashtags to ward-level organization.
A free ticket can give a candidate visibility, but it does not win an election by itself. Obi’s challenge is simple: convert popularity into political machinery. His supporters must understand that 2027 will not be won by emotion alone. It will be won by agents, logistics, coalition building, regional balance, legal preparedness, voter protection, and message discipline.
This is the moment Obi has been waiting for. The ballot door may be opening. But the harder question remains: can he build the structure to walk through it and win?
