The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Edo State, High Chief Peter Ojemen, (MFR) the Okodalo of Esanland, aka Don P on Saturday described the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  Emperor Jarret Tenebe’s promise to deliver 3.5 million votes in the 2027 presidential election as a mirage and comical in the state.

Speaking to newsmen after the stakeholders meeting in Edo Central Senatorial District of the state, Don P said the statement credited to the APC Chairman, Tenebe is an outright insult to the intelligence of Edo people.

According to him, Don P, the darling of Edo people, in spite of all that happened in 2023 presidential election. secured the highest number of votes in Edo state.

“I want to promise NDC family that history will be repeated in the 2027 presidential election by making sure that working together with all Edo people, the party will give Obi more votes than he got in 2023.

“The people of Edo State remember vividly what transpired in the 2023 presidential election and are ready to defend their votes.

“Despite all the rigging, concocted figures, deployment of federal might, and blatant suppression of the people’s will, how many votes did APC get in Edo State?

“Now, with a straight face, Jerret wants Nigerians to believe he can mobilise 3.5 million votes for President Tinubu in 2027 – more than the entire number of registered voters across all 18 local government areas in the state.

“Such a claim is not only ridiculous but reeks of desperation and sycophancy, clearly aimed at pleasing President Tinubu in a bid to jettisoned the will of Edo people.”

Going further, the National Leader of the party in Edo Don P added “It was worrying that while Edo people are dealing with growing insecurity as a direct result of lack of leadership, while hunger and economic hardship ravage homes daily, and the state collapses under the burden of decaying infrastructure and poor governance, Jarret’s top priority appears to be seeking applause in Abuja through empty posturing and hollow political promises.”

He said it was sure that Tinubu, a seasoned political operator, would not be swayed by the noise and exaggerated claims.

“I urge Jarret Tenebe to step out of his echo office, abandon the obsession with political showmanship, and ask the governor to face the urgent task of governance and delivering real results to the people of Edo State,” the Okodalo of Esanland added.
