The Edo State Tourism Agency (EDSTA) today marked World Tourism Day 2026 with a focus on the future of tourism through technology, Artificial Intelligence and the creative economy.
The celebration with theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” began with a road walk from the Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) Gate and continues with a symposium at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) on Okada Avenue, GRA., Benin City.
The event is hosted by the Director-General of the Edo State Tourism Agency, Lady Vivian Elabor, with Governor Monday Okpebholo as Chief Host. Hon. Dennis Idahosa and Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani are Special Guests of Honour.
The celebration is also an opportunity to look at how Edo can use technology to promote its rich culture, heritage and tourism destinations to a wider world.
As the state marks World Tourism Day, the conversation is simple: how can technology help Edo tell its story better and create new opportunities through tourism and the creative economy?
