‎The Afenmai Sons and Daughters Associations, Abuja, in collaboration with Afenmai Cultural Festival International, has concluded arrangements to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Ethnic group.
‎
‎The event, tagged “Afenmai Cultural Renaissance Day”, is being organized by Afenmai Cultural Festival International and is scheduled to hold in May 2027.
‎
‎In a press statement issued by the Chief Executive Officer of Afenmai Cultural Festival International, Mr. Sam Obeakemhe, who has organized similar events for years said that the collaboration aims to awaken ancestral wisdom, elevate indigenous languages, and integrate traditional Afenmai values from Akoko-Edo, Etsako and Owan communities with contemporary global innovations.
‎
‎According to Obeakemhe who is a culture advocate and pioneer producer in the Nollywood industry, a true cultural renaissance is not a step backwards into primitivism, but a vital leap forward into self-awareness and innovation.
‎
‎The essence of the Afenmai Cultural Renaissance Day, according to the organizers, goes beyond dance and display. It is a deliberate effort to reconnect the present generation with the foundational values of hard work, communalism, respect for elders and truthfulness that distinguished Afenmai ancestors, and to ensure that these values are not eroded by modernity.
‎
‎The festival will also serve as a unity platform for all Afenmai people across Akoko-Edo, Etsako and Owan.
‎
‎It aims to use culture as a tool for peace building, dialogue and collective development, reminding the people of their shared heritage,
‎
‎Furthermore, the event will feature language clinics, exhibition of traditional attires, moonlight folktales, and intergenerational conversations between elders and youths, all designed to preserve endangered Afenmai dialects and transfer indigenous knowledge to the next generation in a creative and entertaining way.
‎
‎Some of the expected guests include Afenmai sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora, artists, scholars, traditional rulers, and culture enthusiasts.
