This is contained in a press statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Benin City, the state capital.

Saint Eromosele stated that Chief Iginnedion’s footprints in education, aviation, media, healthcare, enterprise, philanthropy and human development are firmly written into Edo’s history noting that significantly, much of the legacy he built remains rooted here in Edo State.

He said, at 92, Edo State should go beyond birthday messages, and respectfully call on the Government of Edo State to permanently honour him in his lifetime.

“I propose that consideration be given to renaming Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, as GABRIEL IGBINEDION POLYTECHNIC, USEN – or that another major state institution of equivalent significance be named in his honour.

According to him, “Great societies allow their icons to witness their appreciation. Nigeria honoured Professor Wole Soyinka in his lifetime by renaming the National Theatre after him. Argentina recently honoured Lionel Messi with a symbolic 10th-minute applause.

“We must build a culture of living gratitude, not merely posthumous honour. It is the kind of leadership culture I believe Edo should embrace.

“At 92, the Esama deserves to see Edo say: WE REMEMBER. WE APPRECIATE. WE HONOUR YOU.”

Saint Eromosele who wishes the Esama of Benin Kingdom “Happy Birthday, Esama prayed that  Almighty Osenebulua and our ancestors to grant Chief Igbinedion  strength, good health and longevity.
