Uniben Students Barricade Ugbowo-Lagos Road Over Soldier’s Humiliation of Student For Wearing Camouflage

It was hectic day for motorists and passengers plying every busy Ugbowo-Lagos Road, Benin City, Edo State capital today, 2nd January, 2023, as students of the University of Benin (Uniben) blocked the Ugbowo-Lagos road over assault by military personnel on Uniben student for wearing camouflage.
According to eye witnesses who refuse to disclose his identity, as the military personnel sighted the student wearing camouflage, they disengaged from their vehicle and compel the student to pull off the camouflage, an order the students resisted which then forced the military men to descend on him and beat the hell out of student.
The beaten attracted other uniben students who rushed to the scene and apprehended the solders and engaged them in free for all fight.
The source further stated that the uniben security personnel on duty tried their best to salvage the situation but yielded no fruit as the students over powered them and thereafter locked them up inside the university premises.
It was gathered that the military personnel later escape for their lives.
if was also gathered that no casualty was recorded, but the students later blocked the every busy Ugbowo – Lagos Road and started chanting, “Benin No Be Lagos”, “How many students soldier Go Kill” while asking the military vehicles that ran into the protest to return back to their barrack.
However, it was also gathered that the students who were very bitter over the manner the student was humiliated by the Nigeria military men were perfecting their preparation to continue their protest tomorrow.
As at the time of filing in this report, it was further gathered that the university authority were having meeting with the military personnel to salvage the situation.
