Speaking at the protest staged by concerned citizens of the community, the Chief Priest, Ohen Igbinedion Uwoghiren said, “the Enogie is not a true representative of the people. He doesn’t reside here with us, he only comes here periodically. The last time he came here to discuss with us was six months ago.

“There was a case of murder at the Ahor Kara in April, 2022 where we called him to come so that we can join forces together and look for means of scouting out the killers, using spiritual means, he didn’t come up.

“Just last three weeks, he came and arrested six of our youths when the elders in council were having their meetings. It was God that saved us; I almost fell into a well.

“I am begging the Enogie, HRH Osaro Omoregie to free our children he unlawfully arrested and detained”, he said.

The wives of the detained men who spoke were begging the Enogie to allow their husbands to enjoy freedom and also to perform their fatherly duties.

Those who boldly came out to appeal to the Enogie were Lawrence Uhunmwangho Ogiefa, John Omoregie, Mrs. Osaretin Idahosa, Lucky Omosumwen, Elvis Edegbe, Edith Enotiemwonmwan and Osaro Wilson. They all unanimously appeal to the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare II to intervene in the matter and ensure the Enogie is cautioned and justice is placed.
